Weekday Fishing

I took a day off first time this year today. Needed a rest just for change.

Waiting a rise. But the main stream kept silence today.

I found a rise on second stream though, couldn't get it...

Blind fishing gave me a first fish on the rapids.

In the evening, couldn't see any rises at first hole. And found some at second hole though, it was not easy one. For fly fishing, difficulty is always fun itself.  I mean thank you for giving me lots of fun today.
By the way, HIRATA is getting pop out in the evening.

Fishing Guide D-chan

D-chan as my KANOGAWA mentor took me to his secret main stream hole today.

OKUMA was seen so often around noon. But it was hard to find the rise for me on main stream.
D-chan gave me only one precious rise there. And I got it by OKUMA crippled dun pattern. Thank you so much!
Moved to another stream for blind fishing.

After two mistakes for good ones, caught small one there.

In the evening, the river kept silence. I had no chance to cast for rises.
My strong passion for the fly fishing is getting back now.

Fishing with my collegues

Just like coffee colored water because of last night heavy rain.

I grabbed only two-handed rod through a day today.

Nice catch, YM_san!
Nice hat, Tommy!

I got skunked again...

Try & Error

My today's strategy was "To find new hole of KANOGAWA branch and to enjoy the evening of main stream". Especially I was expecting MONKAGE's hatch and rise for it around the main stream.
H-river was new branch stream for me.
Location was so nice with beautiful young green color!

MONKAGE was often seen there.

HIRATA's spinner was also seen(NAMIHIRATA?).

Baby AMAGO trout. Likely it was born by reproducing.
Try the new hole of O-river branch.

Countless OIKAWA attacked my dry fly.

Except MONKAGE, large stonefly was seen often there.

Said good bye to O-river and headed Z-river's new hole.

Countless hatchery small rainbow trout attacked my fly there.
Too many escapees, not good thing...

Moved to the main stream. There were several rises,
but it didn't seem to be AMAGO's...

MONKAGE's hatch was poor at the mainstream this evening.
It was a kind of miscalculation, but I found many new findings today.

KANOGAWA

main stream kept silence this time also.

Except this one. Moved to the branch river.

Super tiny AMAGO there.

Got the pretty one also.

27cm was maybe my AMAGO record?

KANOGAWA main stream

Found some rises here though,
it was unstable and difficult for me.
I guess most of fly fishermen are hesitating to go fishing now. And It was same to me. Still I don't have any justifiable reason to do though, I'd gone for fishing today.

Okuma-madara mayfly's dun(male),
first time to see at KANOGAWA

ERUMON_HIRATA mayfly
 female dun

Could catch two fishes at upper section. And missed several good strikes there...

Many HIRATA mayflies are popping out now.
Especially in the evening.
In the evening, many white HIRATA duns were seen on the surface, and several spotty rises also. I thought I got it. But it was still mysterious evening for me this time again.

HATSUTSURI; Got started

Today was my opening day of this fishing season though, I had strict time limit. For older daughter's skating, had to drop her at NUMAZU station by 8:30 and pick her up by 15:30. But this morning, there was very bad traffic jam for the construction work. So I decided to take a shortcut because I thought we'll be late. It seemed to be wrong decision. At the narrow alley, I scraped my cherish car against a wall. Bad start, Lance. It was very difficult to erase it completely in my memory...

No rise at first hole.

Famous hole had fishermen waiting the rise.
I didn't want to join them. I liked calmer place.

This hole was also busy.

NOSURI; Common Buzzard

UGUISU, Japanese Bush Warbler was busy for singing.

I found calm pool and waited some rises. But the river kept silent.
On the way to the parking place,
the UME blossoms were beautiful.

This crane fly pattern looked like good on the water surface. But fish wasn't interested in it today.

So I said good-bye to KANOGAWA main stream, and visited one of its branches.
And could catch the first fish of this season. Thanks, god.
Small but precious AMAGO trout for me today
By the way, I am suffering with bad running nose now because of hay fever. Poor Lance...
