Stomach Pump

I bought a stomach pump to know insects much more.

Today I only landed only one fish in spite of check its stomach. I think the reason is that I had a fixed idea through previous successful fishing.

Though there were many PMD emergers in its stomach, I believed PMD adult was dominant judging by a few them.

Although there were many rises in the late evening, I couldn't have any luck because of my misjudgement. Fishing is not easy...

Best result in O_river

I traveled to the O_river in the evening again. It was so sunny today. Water was still colored, but it seemed to become a little better. And it flows under 300cfm.

When I arrived there, there were not anglers very much. But there was hardly rises either. I stopped a car, because I found a few rises near the bank.

I could see some PMD hatch, then I tried PMD dry fly first.

I caught the first fish by PMD parachute. Size was average, but I was happy to catch it.

I had hard time to catch the second one. Because he ignored my fly so many times, but he continued to eat PMD on the surface.

Though I tried PMD, PMD parachute, he didn't have an interest in them.
I noticed the actual size of hatching PMD was bigger than my fly size.

Then I changed it to PMD spinner which looks bigger than the others. Finally he bit it!! I felt very excited.

He was beautiful male brownie.(19:27, 18inches/46cm)






After it, there was sedom rise. So I once gave dry fly, tried nymph and attracter as a dropper, walking to upper.

But nothing happened, no reaction. On the return way to my car, I found the one rise. I caught small one by PMD.(20:28)

I changed the hole, and decided my favorite pool as a last hole today.

There were some rises there and I felt bite to my dry fly. But it was not hooked. I miss a few times.

But finally, I could catch the longest one by PMD spinner. I got it, it was my new record of brown!!

After that I saw so many rises. It was already dark, but still fishable. Of course it was hardly possible to quit fishing for me.

21:56 I caught beatiful male one by same one also. It was about 17inches.

I casted again because many rises were still continued.

I had still luck. I was fascinated by his nose and mouth.

I could catch total 6fishes on this evening. Iwas satisfied with not only the number but also contents.

It became great day for me.

Birds of Prey

Today we had a lunch and went to bird of prey center and dedication point with Mr. & Mrs. M. As you know, Boise is famous as the sanctuary for birds of prey.







Weather was so good and we saw a few birds of prey at the dedication point. It was a little difficult to catch them by the binoculars.

Market on Saturday

We went the Market in Downtown Boise on Satuday first time. My wife's friend K guided us.

There were many shops which treated foods, arts, and wines. It was fun for us. My daughter tasted the cookie with much honey so many times!






After seeing, we had lunch together at GOLDY'S. It was typical american restaurant and usually so crowded. Fortunately, we could enter without waiting so long time.

I tried salmon cake, and it was good! I found the new one in american food for me.

Fishing Trip to O-river after 4.5months

I went O-river after5, because flow shows under 1,000cfs. Last fishing trip there was Jan. 16! Long time no see.

I couldn't have enough time for fishing because of evening shower, but could catch good one(18inches/46cm).

Though I missed two, it was enjoyable for me! Fishing season had started!!

Picnic and Fishing

Mr. & Mrs. L and my family went NIAGARA SPRINGS near Hagerman for picnic and fishing. Weather was so good, but sunshine was too strong.

It was just spring creek, and water was very clear.

We could find the fish easily. They all seemed to be hatchery fish.

A landscape aroud there was also good, so we could enjoy our lunch very much!

I tried dry fly first, and caught small one. But the reaction of fish for dry fly was not so good, next I tried nymph.

Then I could catch them easily! Size was not so huge, but I enjoyed their fight so much.

We tried the pond close to that creek also. It was easier to catch than creek.

This boat was used in the pond for enjoyable cruise only, and was not used for fishing.

We had a good time together. Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. L!!

Pond fishing and smoke

Finally I tried the pond which is for family fishing.

Of course there were hatchery fish only, but it enough for us to enjoy fishing with my daughter.





I tried smoke trout also. It was better than I expected!

Shoshone Falls

As I wrote over and again, there is no river to fish because of abnormal flooding. On the other hand, it isgood time to see the falls.

The shoshone falls is called NIAGARA in the west. I am not sure it is true or not, because I've never seen real NIAGARA. But it is so spectacular.

Roast Beef

Today we bought two burner stove and lost no time in cooking outdoor.

The roast beef using dutch oven was so successful! We enjoyed it at the dinner.

Steelhead season ended...

After 21th April fishing trip, I went to little salmon river and stanley for steelhead once for each. But water was almost flood, I couldn't catch anything.

Today is the end of Steelhead fishing in this spring(except little salmon river, but water shows...). I can't fish until 27th May in major river of Idaho, and my favorite O_river shows catastrophic high flow.

I have no idea...

Baby Geese

Now we can see baby geese here and there.











My daugter and I enjoyed seeing them in the park.

But it was a little dangerous for her to close them too much. Because the parent bird was very cautious about something approaching babies.

Silence in Stanley

Hide and I went Stanley to try the Steelhead in Idaho first time. There was still much snow on the way.

We visited the hatchery first, so I was excited to see the Steelhead's jump.

There was crowed with people, and I experienced 'combat fishing' .

As a result ,we got only baby fishes. I wished I could catch one more Steelhead in this season...

Dance recital

We went to see the Dance Recital of my daughter's dance class.

She jumped very well and seemed to be happy.

There were many parents and to see it also, and they took a picture and movie eagerly including me. It was the same as Japan.

Cherry blossoms?

Recently I've been enjoying the contrast between the sky and blossoms. I was not sure it was whether cherry or plum, but it was beautiful.

It began to fall in a few days.

Circus

My daughter and I went Idaho Center in Nampa first time to watch the Circus show. It was better than I expected.

She seemed to be happy to see the elephant.

Finding Easter Egg

Today there was the event to find the Easeter Eggs in Boise Zoo. My daughter was almost crazy to find treats. It seemed to be difficult for her to decide to pick it up.






She couldn't put up with eating them before arriving home. She said 'it was so fun today' over and over again.

Attention to the goose

It was first time for me to see such a signboard in the office area!

Sometimes they threaten us hard. I felt it was so unique here.

I am looking forward to seeing baby goose.

Medical Examination in San Francisco

I have to thank my company for good chance to go San Francisco by anual medical check.

The day we arrived there, we went Fishermans Warf first. Many sea lions gave welcome to us.





We ate LAMIAN first at SANTA, after medical check. This shop seemed to be very popular. Actually so crowded. I orderd KAKUNI TONKOTSU, and it tastes so-so.




We tried to ride the cable car on third day. I was surprised to see its turning around. It was rotated by man using turning table.

There was so crowed in that car, but we enjoyed the sight of downtown.

Above photo is the Golden Gate Bridge from the ferryboat. It wasn't so cheap, but was good enough.

While my daughter was sleeping, my wife and I enjoyed Irish Coffee. Although it was so strong for me, tasted nice.

We really enjoyed first trip to San Francisco. I thought I would like to try to watch the Baseball game of GIANTS next time.

The Amazing Miracle by The Old Sage of W_River

Hide and I visited W_River again and ... together for Steelhead. Today's our aim was to find a new hole which is far from car access point. Because we had been fed up with a large number of fisherman recently.

As a result, our attempt was great suceeded!Though today was Hide's day basically, I had miracle by one old sage advice in the end.

-In the morning-
Although Hide got ugly fish first at usual hole, he caught good Steelhead at 2nd hole(very popular one) the same as my March 10th trip. It seemed to be about 25.6inches(65cm) male one.

Also he seemed to catch a very beautiful residence raibow(about 13.8inches/35cm) another new hole.
But I caught only one small white fish...

-Afternoon-
We went down the river and tried the new hole whenever we found it. Maybe after 1 hour walking, we found great hole . We tried separately on each side of the river.

Hide landed amazing big one. It was native, good male and about 31.5inches(80cm)!!! It must be his memorial fish in his life.
About me... nothing to be caught.

-Evening-
We decided to return and try some good hole again. I felt I might catch nothing today, but was not so disappointed.
Just before we reached the final hole, we met the old fisherman. He advised me to fish the hole he knew. He looked like a veteran fisherman and seemed to catch many fishes today. (I remembered I met him and talked a little before in the same river.)
The hole he advised us was one of famous hole and we saw many people in the morning. So we felt fish became nervous for fishing. But he said that Steelhead was going to move to upper after 4 o'clock.

I didn't know why, but I wanted to try there. After a few cast, I hooked fish soon! It was almost unbelievable.

The old sage(wise man) advised me how to fight fish and he help me to land it. I really wanted to say thanks to him, but he had gone already while I took a photo.
Not so huge(23inches/58cm), but it became my unforgettable fish. It was also my first male Steelhead.

Just after that, I tried at same hole soon. In a little while, I hooked it again! It was so strong and difficult to pull it near. I felt really pain on my arm by continuous hit.
It was 27.5inches(70cm) female beautiful one. I was really satisfied with it.

Usually it couldn't be happened to catch two Steelhead in very short time I think. I felt it was almost miracle!

Today became great day for us. If possible, I would like to meet him again and say thank you.

We bought first camping tent!

We bought it by 15% off today. It became our first camping tent, so my daughter frisked a lot around and in it. We are looking forward to going camping this summer(fishing also for me).

Hoped for this moment again!

I visited the W_River again and again to meet the good Steelhead, so this was actually third trip. Today I went there alone, so woke up at four and started home at five o'clock in the morning. But there was much snow in highway on the way, it took longer time than usual. I experienced the effectiveness of studless snow tires. Was good.

When I arrived, fortunately there were not so many fishermen yet.
So I fished in the usual hole first. After a few casts, my indicator was vanished. Though it was small resident Rainbow(13inches/33cm), it was beautiful. (But as you know, I was disappointed a little...)



I went to the new hole which Hide & I found at last trip. There was not so many fishermen. I fished there and shifted to the downstream little by little.

When I intended to return the fly to cast, there was heavy tug. So I strongly pull the rod up, then it moved surely! I was excited so much but could afford to measure the time to land. It pulled so strong that my #6 SAGE rod was bent completely like a half moon. It seemed to take about five minutes to land. It was evident good Steelhead which wore spawning color(26inches/66cm). I was satisfied with it very much.

After short lunch, I tried the usual hole in the upperstream. But there was no sign of fish without one whitefish. So I ended it about two thirty in the afternoon and left there.

I was glad to land it, but I might be addicted to the Steelhead. Because as soon as I returned home, I thought of next fishing trip. Dangerous!

An indication of Spring coming

Though I felt cold in the morning and evening, we had a very warm and beautiful sky in the daytime. Maybe the spring is coming soon.
