Silver Week in KIKUGAWA

We came to my parents' home last night.

My dad took us OGASAYAMA mountain today. On the way there, we happened to meet KOJUKEI(Chinese Bamboo Partridge)'s family! I had to take a pic against the sun, but I had no time to tune the exposure time...

It was only back shot of chick though, so-ooooo cute!

Our purpose to go up the pavement was

these Wild AKEBI fruits!

On the way home, there was a colony of cluster-amaryllis here and there. It told me of coming autumn a lot.

White one was new to me.

When we were back to my parents' home, next event was waiting for her in the back garden.

Now she knows the real 'digging sweet potatoes'.

It was a little bit busy but fantastic one fall day.

First mushrooming of this year

Today, as starting day of Silver Week( 5 consecutive holidays), my mushrooming mentor curryman asked me to hunt mushrooms.

When we got to around the forth station of Mt. Fuji. The air temperature was below 10C(50F).

NARATAKE mushroom was today's major hatch.

As general report, it was not good situation for mushrooms because of dry weather. But for me,

cool weather, mossy plant, blue sky, beautiful distant view, pretty flowers, color of autumn, warble of birds, wild mushrooms and good friends, everything there was so nice!

Looking forward to next trip.

For Salmon Fishing,

I got these materials last week, when I visited KAWASAKI city on business.

One of sales clerks in SANSUI pro shop were so kind and told me a lot of things for Salmon Fly Fishing.

Give me a time for thinking of it only...

@ KADOIKE park

Yesterday we visited there mainly for her bike and running practice.

She had a little difficulty in her running form, but kept practicing positively.

Just before leaving, she found many duck's feathers and picked them for me as fly materials. Thanks, a lot!

It was good recreation for us both, except mosquitoes' bites...

Got it!

This envelope brought me a luck to try Japanese Salmon fishing this year.

My wife who received it this afternoon, sent e-mail to my cell phone during my working time. I was so glad to read it, needless to say.

Need to check and maintain my heavy weighted fly fishing tackle for Salmon. Can't wait it!!

Our weekend was

still busy for our new home planing... But it is getting better little by little.

OZIKO came into blossom eventually!

She got this MIYAMA stag beetle unexpectedly. Hopefully we would like to catch it by ourselves next time.

Two nights stay camping in NASU Heights

Since I have special long summer vacation this year, we planed two nights camping for the first time.

COCCO_LAND campground was located in NASU Heights and it took 1.5h drive from my wife's parents' home.




Site-F was surrounded by tall broadleaf tree, very good location.

She could get to catch insects by herself, like butterfly and dragonfly.




Dragonfly was catching HIRATA mayfly! We again realized that it was definitely predator insects.







After dinner, their favorite 'Marshmallow time' had come.





Next morning, we found KABUTO_MUSHI beetle on the willow tree. It was first experience for my daughter to see and catch the wild one.






Using dutch oven, what we were making was,









Pizza! So nice to eat!!








KOGERA(Japanese Pygmy Woodpecker) again.









Playing around YOSASA river. It was quite unusual for me not to have fishing time during this camping.

She helped her mam to flip Pancake over.

We decided to take two pairs of KABUTO_MUSHI beetles just for her observation for a while , and released this NOKOGIRI_KUWAGATA stag beetle.

If you have a chance, let me recommend you 'two nights camping' strongly to enjoy camping itself with enough time.

HOUKI_GAWA C&R Section

Just for change, I picked HOUKI_GAWA River Catch & Release Section as today's destination. It is famous for the large scale, scenic beauty and good rainbow trout.

Maybe I was missing American fly fishing in summer. I tied form beetle pattern first.

First fish was typical hatchery one though, gave me lots of fun!

Water itself was so clear. Wide and very strong stream.

I could enjoy nymph fishing with indicator also, and several fishes were caught. Especially sight nymphing was so exciting, but I couldn't catch several huge ones...

KAWAGARASU(Brown Dipper) was so busy for his hunting of aquatic insects.

This bow was so nice fighter, and had pretty red band. Long cast to the shade on the opposite bank was needed.

I couldn't catch any big boys though, could enjoy fly fishing with #5 rod after very long interval.

River's scale, scenery and beautiful red banded bow, everything there reminded me of fly fishing in US today.
